Mary and Dave Hanby built the first Valhalla Farm in Blue Ridge,
Georgia, in 1992, and started saving good horses, retraining them
and finding good homes. The problem was that they became too
attached and kept most of them. The second farm was built in
Morganton, Georgia and finally, the third is now in Vidalia, Ga.
Mary Sidney Hanby was classically trained in art in Florida but quit
painting when the farms were built. After numerous riding accidents
she needed a quiet hobby; so, she paints her beloved horses.
Finding a way to "give back" to the animals she loves, she gives
100% of the art proceeds to various rescue groups and shelters;
mostly equine and canine.
If you are interested in having a portrait painted of your favorite horse
or dog, please send a good 4x6 or 5x7 color photo. Your photo will
be returned, unharmed. The canvas is hardwood stretched and high
quality oil paints are used to make your portrait.
Dogs are best painted on 11x14 size at $125.00 and horses are best
on 16x20 at $200.00. We use a good quality frame at $30.00 extra.
Shipping varies and we will email you with those costs. We will be
setting up Pay Pal for your convenience. 50% deposit required and
balance before shipping. We will also email you a photo of your
portrait before shipping.
Remember, all proceeds from portraits go to horse and dog rescue.
